What kind of music should i listen to while writing?

i've been writing a series based on fairy tales and i have no idea what kind of music to listen to, to get me in the mood, i'm mostly doing grimm fairy tales so since their story's usually have some dark twist i've been trying to find music that would match that, any suggestions? it doesn't all have to be depressing and dark, something instrumental would be great, like pan's labyrinth soundtrack i've been mainly using that haha thanks for your answersWhat kind of music should i listen to while writing?

Even if her music isn't right for your series, at least check her out! Warning: her music can get very depressing and dark because she suffered heavy trauma as a child, but the songs I recommended are not dark and they are not depressing.

I commend you for your choice in using the Pan's Labyrinth soundtrack. I'd suggest the soundtrack for any of the Assassin's Creed video games, the soundtrack for the film Requiem for a Dream, Dark Knight soundtrack. Try the song 'Iron' by Woodkid.... um and Deftones I guess might fit the bill but I'm not sure (I listen to them when I write personally), Massive Attack, and the Dead Weather.What kind of music should i listen to while writing?
Look up the FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood OSTs on Youtube. It's from an anime that takes place in an alternate universe where alchemy rules instead of physics. The story took place in the early 1900's, and the soundtrack certainly fits the part. Also, I suggest One Piece's OSTs too. Both soundtracks are mainly classical, if that will help you.
