How does music wake up different parts of your mind?

How does music literally take you on a trip? Sometimes you don't know exactly what it is your feeling, but some types of music can really bring it out. Some songs move you a little, some can move you A LOT. Any music lover can relate to this. The odd feelings that some songs can bring out of your mind from the first listen. Regardless of your previous mood. I find the whole thing fascinating and disturbing. No wonder previous generations were afraid of music.How does music wake up different parts of your mind?
